Borjora PS

Barjora P.S is located at 23°26′N 87°17′E / 23.43°N 87.28°E / 23.43; 87.28 and 40km north from District HQ. Barjora Police Station has a jurisdiction over an area of 239.6063 Sq. km having population of 1,24,692 with 7 G.P. and it is under Sadar Sub-Division, sharing border with coke-oven P.S of Burdwan District in one side and in other side Beliatore, Gangajalghati and Sonamukhi PS’s respectively. A geographical feature of this P.S is vulnerable as some parts is covered by deep, dense forest. Barjora is the main market and town of this area and there are three weakly markets at Pakhanna (Saturday/Tuesday), Hatasuria (Monday/Tuesday) and Maliara (Monday/Friday). There are many small and large scale industries in this area some of them are ‘kangsaboti spinning mill’, ‘Nilkamal plastic product’, Sivaji electro steel etc.

Pakhanna (or Pokharna) is a village in the Barjora police station area of Bankura district. It is located 40 kilometers (25 mi) north-east of Susunia, on the south bank of River. This village is considered to be the same as Pushkarana, once the capital of Chandravarman, son of Simhavarman, the extent of whose dominions may have been more or less coterminous with ancient Rarh region or south-west Bengal.
