On 24/02/2010 night, Rabi Lochan Mitra, Inspector of Police, Bankura while posted as I.C., Sarenga P.S., Dist. Bankura rushed to village Sonardanga, PS Sarenga Dist Bankura on getting information of attack on house of one Tarasankar Patra by 30/35 armed LW extremists who dragged Tarasankar out of his house and opened fire aiming at him. The police force led by Inspector Mitra retaliated this attack and life of Shri Tarasankar Patra was saved. Unfortunately, the Inspector of Police was also hit by a bullet on his chest and succumbed to his injuries. He was rewarded Shourya Padak posthumously given by Government of West Bengal.
