Homage to Martyr Binod Rai on his death anniversary.
On the 15th of December 2006, an information was received by the troops about presence of maoists near Bagdubi Pry. School, PS Barikul, district Bankura. The troops launched an operation and an encounter ensued. The maoists had a tactical advantage of height but without caring for flying bullets, troops launched a fierce attack and gunned down two maoists. While advancing, Shaheed Ct. Binod Rai of171 Bn. of CRPF, at that time deployed at Saren Sokra Camp under Barikul PS, sustained injuries. Despite injuries he continued to fire at the maoists till his last breath. The brave heart sacrificed his life in the line of duty while accomplishing the given task.
On 15.12.2017, a Martyrs Stand was unveiled at Bagdubi Pry. School Compound in his memory. Locally popular ‘Baber Aab’ Competition was also organised.
We stand with our heads bowed in the memory of our colleague Martyr Binod Rai. His supreme sacrifice is an inspiration to everyone who proudly wears khaki.
