Close interaction of supervisory officers with the public is an integral part of efficient delivery of police services. Complaints are often received at non-receipt of complaints, unwelcome behavior and burking of cases at the PS level. A need was felt to make provisions for making SDPOs/Zonal DySsP available at a pre-announced scheduled date and time at the PS for listening to the grievances of the public.
The weekly attendance of supervisory officers of the rank of Zonal DySsP/SDPOs at the respective Police Stations under their jurisdiction as per a fixed schedule to address public grievances of that P.S. area was started as an exercise to enhance police-public relation and to redress the grievances of the people at local level.
Though this is a new initiative, the response has been encouraging and many villagers from distant villages are finding it more convenient to approach supervisory officers at the P.S., than to go and meet them at District or Sub-Divisional Head Quarters. This has good impact in improving police-public relation and is also serving as a source of information of the concerned P.S area.
It is also helping SDPOs/Zonal DySsP in collecting firsthand knowledge of the problems faced by the public while approaching police station for their grievances.
